A 'special meeting' of the interim government's advisory council was held today, Saturday. The special meeting, chaired by Chief Advisor Professor Muhammad Yunus at the Chief Advisor's office in Tejgaon in the capital, included prayers and supplications for the speedy recovery of former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia.

Religious Advisor AFM Khalid Hossain led the prayer. Later, the decision of this special meeting was announced from the Chief Advisor's press wing. The press release said that the meeting approved in principle and finally the draft of the Foreign Grants (Voluntary Activities) Regulation (Amendment) Ordinance, 2025. This amendment has brought changes to several sections of the current law. The rules for registering NGOs have been simplified. The conditions for releasing grants have also been simplified. From now on, approval will no longer be required for grants up to Tk 50 lakh per year.

In addition, the draft of the Police Commission Ordinance, 2025 was raised in the meeting. However, the Advisory Council has directed that the ordinance be raised in more detail and in a revised form in the next council meeting.

At the meeting, Expatriate Welfare Advisor Asif Nazrul informed the Advisory Council about the imminent release of the remaining 24 people who were imprisoned at various times for participating in the July uprising in the United Arab Emirates. He said they will return home in two or three days.
